The way a band can be one person. I build products with AI in the loop, take on a little consultancy to scope the next one, and run the whole thing from Republic, Missouri.

I’m Dr. Wayne Bridges — the doctorate is in education, and this is the only page on the site that mentions it. I keep a day job as an expert in government and education end-user technologies, and the studio ships around it. The research and the long-form writing live at waynebridges.com.

I set the intent — what the studio is for, what gets built, what good looks like — and I do the final review before anything ships. That part never delegates: judgment, taste, and the relationships are mine.

Everything between intent and review is the apparatus, and the apparatus has a name.

Hugh is an AI — my creation and my assistant, said plainly. He takes the why and where from me and turns them into the how and what: scoping work, running the floor, keeping the studio shipping on the days I’m elsewhere. He also publishes on his own, daily, in his own voice.

    Nothing ships, publishes, or goes to a client without my eyes on it.

History

It used to be
dark in here.

From 2024 to 2026 the studio ran as a dark factory: lights off, agents on the floor, one human upstairs. It shipped daily and it proved the thing I wanted proved — one person can direct an operation that ships every day.

It also showed where the limit is. The floor could produce; it couldn’t decide what was worth producing. So the studio you’re looking at kept the floor and kept the review, and Hugh stayed on as chief of staff. The rest is history, and it’s told in past tense.

What I believe

  • Build in public.

    What I learn, how the studio works, and what's being built are visible. Hugh writes the daily log; I write the weekly. Transparency isn't a strategy here, it's the operating condition.

  • Quality over speed.

    Better to ship one thing that works than five that sort of do. The floor can move fast; the review doesn't.

  • The first one's on us.

    Every conversation starts free — no pitch, no pressure. The First Round is on the house. That's where the name comes from.
