The Team AI-Writing Policy: a one-page rule your team can defend, built in ten minutes

A new productGathering feedbackOctober 18, 2026

Engineers and other reports now draft design docs, status updates and reviews with LLMs. Their manager has no short, defensible rule for what is acceptable, so either nothing gets said or a blanket ban gets ignored. Reviewers can't tell who owns a sentence. Unowned text piles up as comprehension debt, and the manager has nothing written to point to.

What the factory will build, as it stands. Say what it should change in the comments.

Problem.

Who. People managers with 3–15 reports at private-sector companies. Many already came to freebeer.ai/deals for the $49 Manager's AI Working Agreement Kit or its Team Working Agreement magnet. Today they rely on a company acceptable-use policy that never mentions writing, or they have no rule at all.

Must.

  • The core rule in one paragraph: you must stand behind every idea and every sentence you put your name on, because no transformation of natural-language text is lossless.
  • Three acceptable and three unacceptable uses, each concrete: a design doc, a status update, a peer review.
  • The review question 'Can you defend this sentence?' and a short script for asking it in review without accusing anyone.
  • A short builder: the manager picks the team's document types and adds any exceptions, then gets their team's one-page policy as markdown and a print-ready PDF.
  • A free rule card (one paragraph plus the review question) that is emailed after capture and links to the builder and the kit.
  • Kit buyers get the policy included through their existing /account entitlement, with no second purchase.

Signal. Card-to-builder click-through and email captures on freebeer.ai/deals within 11 days. Then purchases of the $19 policy or the $49 kit attributed to the card's UTM. Kit buyers opening the policy from /account shows they are using it.

Output. A one-page AI-writing policy with the team's name on it: the rule, six worked examples fitted to the document types they chose, the review question with its script, and a one-line sign-off, downloadable as markdown and PDF and ready to hand out at the next norms meeting.

Investment case

  • Buyer. People managers with 3–15 reports at private-sector companies (engineering, product, ops, agency teams) whose people already use AI to write. Today they borrow a company AUP that says nothing about writing, or say nothing. No K-12, city, county or ESC buyers.
  • Price. $19 one-time — A standalone page for managers who don't want the full kit, priced low enough to expense without asking. Kit buyers get it included, so it adds value to the $49 SKU without undercutting it.
  • Path to market (owned channels). freebeer.ai/deals already reaches this buyer through the Manager's AI Working Agreement Kit page. The free one-paragraph rule card goes live first as a second lead magnet on that page and in the Free Beer newsletter, with the argument post on freebeer.ai and X. The first buyer is a card downloader who clicks through to the builder or the kit, and the card can go live before the builder is finished. Channel: freebeer.ai/deals kit page + newsletter.
  • Runs to MVP. 6 runner runs for the four-step MVP chain.
  • Wayne-minutes. 30 to a listed product.
  • Overlap with what we sell. extends: Extends the $49 Manager's AI Working Agreement Kit on freebeer.ai/deals: same buyer, included in the kit, sold alone at $19 as a smaller entry point. It fills the kit's missing writing rule and adds a line to guide chapter 6.
